Injections in summer : good or bad idea?

Dr. Sophie nordback

Are you considering getting an injection this summer but have questions about the precautions to take and possible contraindications? This article is for you! Getting an injection during the summer, whether it involves botulinum toxin (Botox) or hyaluronic acid, is not contraindicated, but there are precautions to follow. Maison Tóā, an aesthetic clinic based in Lausanne, helps you gain clarity and choose the best time to undergo a treatment based on the type of injection you want.

Why Get Botulinum Toxin Injections in the Summer?

Getting a botulinum toxin injection before or during the summer is a great idea for several reasons:

  • It helps smooth the skin during a time of year when people tend to squint more often due to increased sunlight. This can lead to uneven tanning, which accentuates crow’s feet and frown lines. Additionally, skin tends to mark more during the summer due to insufficient hydration;
  • Botulinum toxin is also beneficial for controlling sweating: it helps reduce excessive perspiration, especially under the armpits, thanks to its effect on sweat glands.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections:

Regarding volumizing hyaluronic acid injections, there is no ideal period or major contraindication as long as you do not plan to expose yourself to the sun within 48 hours of the injections or if you are flying. However, it is not recommended if you are going on a beach vacation or plan to lounge by the pool within 2 days after the injections. Indeed, in case of minor bruising following the injections, exposure to the sun can leave marks in the long term. It might be particularly wise, either as a preventive or curative measure, to opt for a Skinbooster injection during the summer to benefit from its hydrophilic properties and deeply hydrate your skin. If you wish to get a hyaluronic acid injection during the summer, we recommend following these precautions:

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least two days to prevent any discoloration;
  • To prevent any inflammatory risks, it is advisable to avoid artificial UV exposure, saunas, or steam baths, and to refrain from smoking or drinking alcohol within 24 hours after the treatment;
  • It is also better to avoid strenuous physical activity, flying, and taking aspirin within 24 hours after the hyaluronic acid injection.

Injections in the Summer: Limiting Sun Exposure

Whether it is a botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid injection, it is common to see redness or small bruises at the injection site following the treatment. Don’t worry; they generally disappear within 48 hours, or at most within 3 to 6 days if they are bruises. However, it is essential to protect them during the post-treatment period by avoiding sun exposure for at least one day. This helps prevent bruises from becoming pigmented and marking your skin permanently. For this reason, if you want to get an injection before a special event (party, wedding, etc.), it is recommended to have it done at least two weeks in advance to avoid any adverse effects on your skin during the festivities. Maison Tóā offers over a dozen anti-aging injections at its aesthetic medicine clinic in Lausanne: Profhilo, hyaluronic acid, Botox, Radiesse, PRP, and Sculptra. Discover all of our injections.

Profhilo

Anti-aging treatment: focus on Profhilo®

Dr. Alexandra Miles

Used in aesthetic medicine since the mid-2010s to slow down the skin aging process and regenerate its texture, this injectable solution stands out from more traditional filling products due to its overall action on the face combined with its firming and moisturizing effects.

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is the trademark of an anti-aging treatment developed by an international pharmaceutical group – IBSA – based in Nice. Its use in aesthetic medicine is relatively recent: in France and Switzerland, it dates back to 2017. Like many other solutions indicated for reducing wrinkles and firming the skin, Profhilo® is a product made from hyaluronic acid, a molecule naturally produced by the body where it plays a major role in tissue hydration.

The uniqueness of Profhilo® compared to other treatments lies in its synthesis method, patented by IBSA under the name Nahyco®: it is a stabilization process that allows obtaining a hybrid compound formed of hyaluronic acids of high and low molecular weights.

What are the properties and benefits of Profhilo®?

The combination of molecules of different sizes and characteristics makes Profhilo® one of the most concentrated products in hyaluronic acid (32 mg/ml). This mixity also allows it to act in a complementary manner in the skin remodeling process when the skin shows signs of dryness prone to the appearance of wrinkles, and skin sagging caused by a loss of firmness and elasticity:

High molecular weight hyaluronic acid acts on the surface where it forms a kind of moisturizing film that firms the skin and improves its overall appearance by giving it radiance.

Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, the smaller of the two, on the contrary, has the ability to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and increase collagen production, a fibrous protein that strengthens tissue resistance to stretching.

These biostimulations combine and complement their beneficial results from the inner part of the skin (dermis) to its superficial and “visible” layer (epidermis): wrinkles are altered, the texture becomes firmer and more toned, and the complexion regains a fresh and radiant appearance.

The hybrid nature of Profhilo® allows a diffuse and homogeneous action of hyaluronic acid throughout the treated area. Unlike solutions used for wrinkle filling, the product does not alter the structure of the face by a volumizing effect. Its rehydrating function contributes to smoothing or “unwrinkling” the skin and tightening regions of the body particularly prone to skin laxity.

Where and how is Profhilo® administered?

Profhilo® is injected as a bolus in the form of a liquid gel. After a skin examination, the procedure is performed by a dermatologist or surgeon at the Maison Tóā aesthetic clinic who defines five key injection points around the targeted area, following the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Point) technique specially designed and implemented to meet the specificity of Profhilo® and optimize its effectiveness.

The parts of the body that can be treated with Profhilo® injections are:

  • The face
  • The neck
  • The chest
  • The dorsal side of the hands
  • The anterior side of the knees
  • The inner side of the arms
  • The thighs
  • The abdomen

According to clinical studies, a significant improvement in skin elasticity is observed within two weeks after the first injection. Within fifeen days as well, the depth of wrinkles is reduced by 10%, and up to 30% after three months.

What is the purpose of botulinum toxin injections?

Understanding the Purpose of Botulinum Toxin Injections: Benefits and Uses

Dr. Alexandra Miles

By relaxing the muscles responsible for repetitive folds on certain areas of the face and neck, this laboratory-produced protein attenuates, after injection into the tissues, the most visible, marked, and stubborn wrinkles. Explanations.

Expressing surprise, concern, joy, or anger is a natural way to communicate one’s positive or negative feelings to others. Over time, these expressions also have consequences on the overall appearance of the skin. The so-called “dynamic” wrinkles that settle and deepen on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes result from the regular movements of the facial muscles, which are particularly dense and numerous (the face has a total of 43).

How are expression lines formed?

After the age of 30 or 40, their contractions leave traces that are all the more accentuated and lasting as they occur on skin that gradually loses elasticity and firmness due to the aging process.

Forehead wrinkles take the form of horizontal lines caused by raising the eyebrows, facial expressions that convey feelings of embarrassment, surprise, or worry several times a day.

The furrowing of these same eyebrows, a sign of perplexity and reflection, engages the corrugator muscle, symbolically nicknamed the “muscle of sadness”: through their repeated movements, these tissues are responsible for the “lion’s wrinkles”, vertical and horizontal furrows that appear on the glabella, the area between the two eyebrows.

The so-called “bunny lines” develop on the lateral edges of the nose, as a result of the regular activation of the compressor muscle of the nostril.

Finally, the famous crow’s feet develop around the eyes, a part of the face animated by the orbicularis muscle, which allows voluntary closure of the eyelids and their – 28,000! – daily blinks.

By blocking neurotransmitters that trigger muscle contraction, botulinum toxin helps relax the treated area. This localized relaxation dissipates the marks caused by certain facial expressions, stops the progression of existing wrinkles, and prevents the appearance of new ones: the most affected areas – forehead, nose, outer corner of the eye – thus become smoother and temporarily regain a youthful appearance. During the consultation with a doctor at the Maison Tóā aesthetic clinic, you can discuss the area you wish to treat and any questions you may have.

How long do the effects of botulinum toxin last?

Botulinum toxin, widely known through one of its most famous brand names – Botox – adopted in the United States in the late 1980s, is a natural substance extracted from a bacterium and synthesized in a pharmaceutical laboratory for curative and cosmetic purposes.

In addition to its use in aesthetic medicine, this molecule, administered by injection, is indicated in the treatment of numerous pathologies caused by muscle hyperactivity.

The perfect mastery of the product by experienced practitioners at the Maison Tóā aesthetic clinic (Lausanne, Switzerland) allows for the treatment of other sensitive areas, in addition to those around the eyes, nose, and forehead. Botulinum toxin can target the orbicularis muscle of the lips to reduce the lines that stretch around the mouth (the “smoker’s wrinkles”). The molecule is also injected into the chewing muscles to reduce jaw width and round out a “square” face. It also acts on the platysma muscles responsible for vertical wrinkles on the neck, or on the mentalis muscle to relax the skin of the chin.

Injections of botulinum toxin are performed by our qualified doctors using very fine needles that cause no discomfort to the patient and reach with extreme precision the muscles to be neutralized.

The beneficial effects of the treatment, visible 7 to 14 days after injection, are completely reversible and fade within 4 to 6 months (on average).

Rhinofiller – Non-Surgical Nose Job in Lausanne

Dr. Alexandra Miles

Have you heard about Rhinofiller Lausanne? Rhinofilling is one of the most revolutionary techniques for reshaping the nose and treating imperfections without plastic surgery. More and more people are opting for rhinofiller to modify the shape and imperfections of their profile, thanks to the quick treatment, minimally invasive nature, and lower costs compared to rhinoplasty surgery. Let’s discover how rhinofiller treatment works, its costs, benefits, and potential risks.

Rhinofiller Lausanne? What is rhinofiller?

Rhinofiller, rhinoplasty with filler, or non-surgical rhinoplasty is a type of aesthetic medicine treatment aimed at reshaping and correcting nasal defects without resorting to invasive cosmetic surgery, i.e., rhinoplasty.

It is a so-called “minimally invasive” treatment, performed on an outpatient basis by doctors specialized in this type of injection, usually based on hyaluronic acid.

Fillers are among the most popular and sought-after aesthetic medicine treatments precisely because they are easy to perform, cost less than plastic surgery, and the results are not permanent: fillers are metabolized and reabsorbed by the body, making rhinofiller the ideal treatment for those attempting to correct an imperfection for the first time or for those who are uncomfortable with permanently reshaping a feature of their face or body.

Did you search for Rhinofiller Lausanne? Medical rhinoplasty is, in fact, a very safe and relatively painless treatment: injections of hyaluronic acid or other substances are performed under local anesthesia and only cause slight swelling that disappears within a few hours.

Rhinoplasty with a filler is performed through micro-injections, which insert the filler into the nose to create a sort of prosthesis, reshaping its form and profile and correcting imperfections. The filler can eliminate, for example, the infamous “hump” or “nasal bump,” and visually correct deviations, without having to resort to invasive surgery.

Medical rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid

But what substances are injected into the nose with a rhinofiller? The goal of nose filler is to reshape the form of this part of the body, improving the profile and eliminating defects. Therefore, a volumizing substance like hyaluronic acid is generally used to fill gaps and irregularities, adding volume to even out the shape of the nose, or even create a turned-up nose.

Hyaluronic acid is the most commonly used substance in fillers. It is a substance naturally present in our body, which is the main component of body tissues, with the function of hydrating, protecting, and ensuring the elasticity and tone of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is widely used to fill wrinkles and restore volume to body structures because the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the tissues tends to decrease with age. As a volumizer, hyaluronic acid is also particularly suitable for medical rhinoplasty, allowing the addition of volume and modification of the nose’s shape.

Most hyaluronic acid-based fillers are “resorbable” or “semi-permanent” products, whose effect lasts a few months, after which the nose returns to normal because the injected hyaluronic acid is metabolized and thus “reabsorbed” by the body, which recognizes it as its own substance.

How does Rhinofiller treatment work?

Rhinoplasty with aesthetic medicine fillers is performed at the clinic, and you can resume your daily activities immediately with instant effects.

Rhinofiller, like all other filler treatments (lip fillers, wrinkle fillers, nose-lip fillers), must be performed by a qualified and specialized doctor in advanced injection techniques: since it is a reshaping operation, the injection technique, the doctor’s experience and professionalism, and the precision of the operation are fundamental.

The nose is one of the first things you notice on your face. A small bump or a drooping tip is a common concern, yet there is a simple solution to improve them. Before considering medical rhinoplasty, I will take the time to listen to you and establish what can be done. Once all your questions have been clearly answered, we can proceed to reshape your nose with precision and delicacy.

Lip injections for men Lausanne

Dr. Alexandra Miles

Are lip fillers for men on the rise? And is there a difference in how men and women are treated?

Dr. Nordback and Dr. Miles from Maison Tóā discuss this service!

Men are Embracing Aesthetic Treatments, Including Lip Injections

Lips! The focal point of our face, a feature that immediately draws us in and a zone that communicates so much about our emotional state, health, age, and personality. Lip augmentation with fillers has long been a treatment women have eagerly adopted, but can men benefit from it too? Yes, absolutely!

In my experience, male aesthetic treatments, including lip fillers, have seen exponential growth and demand over the past five years. Many things have changed in the world around us and this has led to a shift in opinion regarding men wanting aesthetic treatments.

Dr. Alexandra Miles

What Drives More Men to Get Lip Injections?

Fortunately, we have witnessed a diversification of beauty ideals, the acceptance and inclusion of male grooming, increased visibility of androgyny, and more in-depth education on sexual identity. Major brands tasked with capturing the zeitgeist to guide trends have undoubtedly played a role in reducing stigma by taking an inclusive approach to gender.

Lip Fillers for Men and Women: Is There a Difference?

We have found that men are not different from women in their desire to look their best and are not immune to the emotional effects of aging. But, when it comes to lip fillers, how does the treatment vary by gender?

As we age, our lips thin, and additionally, men’s facial hair can cover the upper lip, giving an outward appearance of “meanness” that may not reflect reality.

To treat the upper lip, small conservative injections over several appointments are often the best approach for men seeking a subtle enhancement. More volume can be used on the lower lip, and often, a projected lower lip that respects the natural anatomy and facial dimensions can help achieve a sexy and rejuvenated appearance.

When treating men with lip fillers, there are non-gender-specific considerations that must always be understood. It is extremely important to consider the face as a whole, holistically, when planning lip treatments to ensure a balanced and proportionate appearance. Lips do not age in isolation, so they should not be assessed alone. It is important to evaluate the entire face, which may require volume correction in areas such as the midface or often by sculpting the chin and jawline.

Men tend to metabolize hyaluronic acid-based fillers faster than women, so a follow-up visit for a filler top-up may be necessary after 9 months rather than 12 months for a woman.

Microneedling in Switzerland

Microneedling: Women’s Prerogative or Also for Men?

Microneedling uses the skin’s natural ability to produce collagen to treat certain skin conditions. The procedure uses needles to create “micro” perforations in the skin that promote collagen production and skin healing.

Microneedling can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and even wrinkles. But does it hurt?

In this article, we will examine the intensity of the pain and the measures you can take to make the procedure less painful.

Is Microneedling Painful?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy or percutaneous collagen production, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure.

The goal of microneedling is to pierce the outermost layer of the skin and trigger the healing process. This promotes collagen production and skin cell renewal.

The entire procedure takes about an hour. The procedure is performed by one of our estheticians under the supervision of a doctor, allowing the needles to go up to 3mm under the skin for the treatment of hypertrophic scars.

Before the Procedure

A topical anesthetic will be applied about 30 to 45 minutes before the treatment begins. This numbs the area and reduces the pain that may be felt during the procedure.

During the Procedure

The esthetician will use an instrument containing tiny needles, the Dermapen 4, the only microneedling device capable of making over 1,000 punctures through the skin per second, to perform the procedure.

The microneedling instrument is sterilized and intended for single use. Once the procedure begins, the esthetician moves the instrument evenly over the skin to create small holes in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. The microneedling part of the procedure lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.

The most common sensation during the procedure is a feeling of warmth and tingling as the instrument moves around the face. You may also feel mild pain in the bony areas of the face, such as the hairline, forehead, and jaw.

Otherwise, the application of a topical anesthetic makes this procedure relatively painless.

After the Procedure

After the procedure, the esthetician will apply a gel mask to help calm the skin and reduce inflammation and redness. Creams and lotions that promote the healing process of the skin may be prescribed.

You can leave the office immediately after your appointment. No downtime is required. You may notice some redness and mild skin irritation for 2 or 3 days after the procedure, but this is generally not concerning and should fade as the skin heals.

It takes time for new collagen to form. You will generally need to wait 2 to 6 weeks between sessions to allow the skin to repair itself. Three to four sessions may be necessary for the microneedling results to become noticeable.

Are There Things You Can Do to Minimize Pain?

Although microneedling is a relatively painless procedure, you may still experience some discomfort. There are some steps you can take before and after the procedure to minimize the pain you may feel.

To minimize pain before the procedure:

Avoid using products on your skin that increase sensitivity, such as retinoids or exfoliants. Avoid laser procedures or overexposure to the sun before the treatment. This can damage the skin and increase sensitivity. Do not shave, wax, or use depilatory products before the procedure. This can lead to increased skin sensitivity.

Hand rejuvenation

Dr. Sophie nordback

In body symbolism, the hands represent our ability to give (right hand) and receive (left hand), while the fingers detail our lifestyle: the thumb represents the pressure we exert on others, the index finger authority, the middle finger pleasure, the ring finger partnership, and the little finger family.

Hand Rejuvenation

Signs of hand aging include thinning skin, reduction in subcutaneous tissue thickness, the appearance of fine lines that become increasingly pronounced, and the growing visibility of veins and tendons.

The appearance of the hands often reveals, more than the face or other body parts, a person’s true age.

The skin on the back of the hands, which is very mobile and delicate, becomes thinner with age and unevenly pigmented with dark spots due to actinic or seborrheic keratosis, while the underlying bony structure becomes more visible with all its protrusions.
Rejuvenation techniques have been developed to specifically correct these issues, giving the hands a polished appearance in line with a still-fit body.

Since the defects resulting from hand aging are numerous and varied, the techniques used are also diverse, each with its own indications and limitations. Treatment for skin discoloration (dark spots) can be done using various types of lasers (pico laser for spots and CO2 laser for seborrheic keratosis) or chemical peels.

To correct the “skeletal” appearance of the hand and excessive thinning of the skin, hyaluronic acid injections or biostimulants such as Radiesse are used. Less commonly, lipofilling is performed, which involves taking a small amount of fat from the hips or abdomen, similar to a small liposuction, and injecting this material into the back of the hands. Local anesthesia is generally required, and while the result is visible immediately, there is a slight expected reabsorption of 25%.

Wrinkle treatment Lausanne – Advanced Anti-Aging Care

What we commonly refer to as wrinkles actually have distinct origins and treatments.

Indeed, depending on their nature or causes of appearance, the treatments proposed to combat and prevent them will be entirely different.

In this article, we will explain exactly how this classification is structured so that you can consciously choose the services offered by your clinic, Maison Tóā.

Not all wrinkles are caused by aging

These lines on the skin that we, both men and women, detest but which characterize each person’s face, have their own history and nature. Identifying the physiological causes or those related to poor care that led to their appearance is the task of your clinic, Maison Tóā.

Let’s start by saying there are four types of wrinkles, each with its own cause.

  1. Gravitational wrinkles – Skin aging

As the name suggests, the first type of wrinkle revolves around gravity, which constantly pulls us down. These wrinkles are mainly found on the lower face and neck, with increased skin laxity that worsens over time.

The cause is the decrease in supportive structures that hold the skin. This degenerative process is due to the aging of all structures: dermal, muscular, and bone. In this case, stimulating collagen production plays a major “anti-wrinkle” role by preventing the superficial skin layers from sagging deeply. When collagen synthesis is not high enough to counteract the gravitational pressure, the skin sags.

One of the preferred treatments is injections of a collagen-producing biostimulant, Radiesse.

  1. Actinic wrinkles – Sun damage

Actinic wrinkles are the most difficult type of wrinkles to combat. They give the skin a withered appearance and tend to appear after the age of 30, although on very fair skin with a phototype I or II, they may appear earlier. Actinic wrinkles appear as fine surface lines that deepen over time and become permanent.

Actinic wrinkles clearly represent inadequate sun exposure. Their formation is based on a loss of the skin’s repair capacity influenced by prolonged exposure to UV rays.

This loss of the skin’s ability to regenerate and the decrease in collagen production related to age trigger the skin aging process and, consequently, the formation of actinic wrinkles. Another important factor concerns the dermal cells, which are altered by solar radiation and excessive skin overheating.

One of the preferred treatments consists of PRP injections and superficial hyaluronic acid like a skin booster.

  1. Sleep wrinkles – Poor skin elasticity

They are called sleep wrinkles or pillow wrinkles because they are induced by the compression and friction forces that come into play when we lay our face on the pillow. The position in which we sleep and the time spent in that position are directly proportional to the damage caused to the skin.

Sleep wrinkles accentuate existing wrinkles, creating new ones that tend to be vertical along the face.

Sleep wrinkles do not develop due to mechanical compression of the facial muscle bundles but rather due to a loss of tension. The problem to address is therefore poor skin elasticity, related to a loss of tone.

Counteracting skin sagging becomes imperative in a situation we cannot actively control, as during sleep, we are unaware of the movements we make.

One preferred treatment consists of using the HIFU laser to regenerate skin elasticity.

  1. Expression lines

Expression lines are not a direct consequence of the aging process but develop due to the continuous contraction of facial muscles. It is no coincidence that expression lines develop more on the forehead and around the eyes, areas heavily involved in facial expressions.

They are actually a mode of communication, and there are no particular preventive treatments for expression lines. The only care we can provide is to take care of the skin as much as possible to keep it healthy and capable of moving the face without collapsing structurally.

One preferred treatment consists of botulinum toxin injections such as botulinum toxin.

Risks of hyaluronic acid injections

Dr. Sophie nordback

Topical application of hyaluronic acid-containing products on your skin does not present significant side effects. Mild skin irritations may occasionally occur, but they tend to resolve spontaneously within a few days and are more likely due to allergenic excipients in hyaluronic acid creams rather than the hyaluronic acid itself. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid injections can lead to some side effects, including allergic reactions, bleeding, or vascular occlusions. Poorly injected product may be visible or cause subcutaneous infections. Infections will manifest as redness of the skin, pain, and localized swelling at the injection site, and may spread to the area if no treatment is initiated. The person may then develop a fever or even septic shock; these reactions can occur with any treatment or needles inserted under the skin and are not due to the product itself.

A severe complication that can occur is Staphylococcus infection!

Fighting wrinkles to remain youthful and increasing the volume of certain parts of the face and body is a growing trend year after year. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are the second most popular treatment in Switzerland after botulinum toxin injections, liposuction, and breast augmentation. However, although this type of injection is becoming more common, the risks of infection remain the same. This highlights the need to ensure hygiene and safety for those undergoing this type of procedure, as well as to explore ways to minimize the risk of complications and undesirable reactions. Your Clinic Maison Tóā takes all necessary measures to prevent Staphylococcus infection! The injections are performed by doctors who are knowledgeable about skin hygiene and disinfection rules. All equipment used is sterile, and the injected filler product is the purest available on the aesthetic medicine market. It is very important to prevent and reduce the risk of complications when undergoing injections for your face or body. Aesthetic medicine always comes with a lot of expectations and emotions, and potential post-injection complications obviously have psychological consequences, which is where the experience of the Maison Tóā team plays a crucial role in ensuring a fully safe aesthetic medicine service!

Facial asymmetry due to failed injections

Facial asymmetry appears when the face is not symmetrical or balanced. In reality, the vast majority of people have an asymmetrical face, but to a very slight degree and therefore barely perceptible. However, in some cases, facial asymmetry, such as jaw deviation, can be obvious and require medical attention.

Which areas of the face show facial asymmetry?

Facial asymmetry can affect different areas of the face: the upper third (hairline, eyebrows), the middle third (eyes and nose), and the lower third of the face (mouth and chin).

Why does facial asymmetry occur?

Some forms of facial asymmetry can be attributed to congenital malformations affecting the muscles and skeleton, such as Romberg syndrome or hemifacial microsomia. More frequently, they result from jaw malocclusion which has also caused facial asymmetry. Often, they may also result from facial trauma.

Are there criteria for measuring symmetry?

Facial symmetry is clinically assessed by analyzing the proportions between the two sides of the face. Perfect symmetry of all parts does not exist in nature; however, it is considered responsible for the attractive features of a face.

What are the types of facial asymmetries?

Asymmetries due to failed injections

Aesthetic medicine requires experience in addition to solid training. To achieve a harmonious result on the face, skill is essential! At your clinic, Maison Tóā, we make every effort to respect individual anatomical variations and can offer subtle corrections when necessary. We also correct injections that have gone wrong by eliminating the filler product using hyaluronidase.

Hypofunctional asymmetries

Among these forms are asymmetries resulting from hypofunction on one side of the face, particularly temporomandibular disorders, which cause the greatest degree of malformation.

Hyperfunctional asymmetries

Hyperfunctional asymmetries have the same mechanism of appearance, namely the temporomandibular joint, but in the opposite direction.

It is not uncommon to have a facial asymmetry due to a combination of these two mechanisms.

Where does facial asymmetry appear?

Skeletal facial asymmetry: in the maxillary or mandibular area, when the development of the maxilla or mandible is due to excess or deficiency on one side of the face compared to the other.

General asymmetry: in any area of the face, on hard or soft tissues.

Sometimes dental asymmetry: in the teeth, when they appear positioned asymmetrically relative to each other.

How to treat facial asymmetry?

There are two ways to treat facial asymmetry: when the asymmetry is mild, it is possible to intervene with aesthetic medicine using hyaluronic acid camouflage; when the facial irregularities are more pronounced, orthognathic surgery on the bone bases is necessary.

To resolve the issue from a functional standpoint, orthognathic surgery is the best solution. It corrects dysfunctions related to chewing, jaw clicking, and temporomandibular joint pain.

Risks of buttock augmentation injections

Understanding the Risks of Buttock Augmentation Injections

Dr. Sophie nordback

The increase in buttock volume can be achieved in two ways:

  1. Surgically, using implants;
  2. Or, without surgery, through hyaluronic acid injections (Hyacorp).

Hyacorp is a macromolecular hyaluronic acid that can be used to increase buttock volume.

Hyacorp is indicated for restoring volume or correcting volume defects of the body, primarily the buttock area. The gel is injected into the dermis, volumizing the tissues in a harmonious and natural way. The gel is composed of a cross-linked, fully resorbable hyaluronic acid.

The hyaluronic acid composition, a substance naturally present in the body, biodegradable and biocompatible, makes HYAcorp™ a safe product with no risk of rejection.

It is indicated for both women and men who wish to increase the volume of their buttocks or correct concavities or other irregularities post-traumatically or post-operatively.

The duration of the filling effect may vary and depends on the depth, injection area, and lifestyle.
The injection can only be performed by a physician, under strict sterile conditions. If these are not followed, local or even systemic infections (sepsis) may occur.

The product should only be administered by duly qualified healthcare professionals.

Indeed, it comes in 10 ml syringes and can be directly injected into the subcutaneous tissues for buttock volume enhancement. However, it is crucial that the practitioner is experienced in hyaluronic acid injections into the buttocks, otherwise, the patient might face risks. Maison Tóā operates with the highest standards in a completely sterile environment!

Recently, reality TV stars have experienced this. The contestant from Les Marseillais contracted a staphylococcus after a session of injections carried out under poor conditions.

SIDE EFFECTS

The dermal filler products in the HyaCorp range are safe and monitored by drug regulatory bodies and CE certified. However, like all other fillers, they may have side effects, including inflammatory reactions such as redness, swelling, edema or erythema, itching or pain. Some discomfort may occur for a few days after the treatment. Other side effects include bruising, hematomas, and nodules. Serious but rare side effects are granulomas, hyperpigmentation, and infections.

AFTERCARE

We recommend the following follow-up measures:

  • Keep the area clean.
  • Avoid taking anticoagulant medications such as aspirin.
  • Avoid swimming, sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, or baths for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid sleeping on your back for one week.
  • Avoid intense physical exercise for 2 weeks.
  • Do not sit for more than 45 minutes at a time after the treatment.

Inject your buttocks safely at Maison Tóā
