Ultraformer III (HIFU)

The HIFU non-surgical facelift is a non-invasive aesthetic medicine technique designed to firm the face and body and combat the signs of aging by restoring the skin’s elasticity and tone.

How does the treatment work?

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a technology that has been used in the medical field for 15 years.

After having been used successfully in the treatment of the prostate, it is now used in the field of aesthetic medicine to treat sagging skin on the face and body.

By means of short, focused impacts, creating micro coagulation points at different depths, the temperature of the entire subcutaneous tissue and the SMAS (Superficial Musculoeponeurotic System) will rise to 65-70°C. This rise in temperature allows :

• • a physical retraction of the SMAS, the system on which the entire dermis is placed
  • a strong stimulation of the dermal fibroblasts allowing the synthesis of new collagen, elastin and reticulin fibers
    
    

It is through this double action that HIFU ultrasound today gives the best results in the aesthetic field for the treatment of skin firmness.

Our aesthetic center located in Lausanne in the canton of Vaud offers the Ultraformer III technology to anyone wishing to reshape the volumes of the face, fight against skin aging and perform a rejuvenation treatment. This treatment can also be performed on large areas of the body.

For whom is the treatment indicated?

This technique offers a natural and visible rejuvenation effect by improving the sagging of the skin due to age.

Ultraformer III is an alternative to hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin or other fillers and cosmetic surgery procedures. It is a facelift without surgery and a treatment of wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation of the skin that does not affect the elasticity of the skin. The treatment does not require hospitalization and does not leave scars.

It is indicated for every person with a slight skin slackening, wishing to find a toned and rested skin. It allows you to postpone the need for surgical lifts.

What part of the body can be treated?

The areas of the face that can be treated with this technique are: the oval of the face, the cheeks and cheekbones, the eye contour, the contour of the mouth as well as the forehead, the neck and the décolleté.

The areas of the body frequently treated for sagging skin are: the arms, knees, abdomen and buttocks.

It is the only technique that has been approved in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for medical face, neck and décolletage lifts.

What results can I expect after a session?

Immediately after the session, you will have the sensation of a lifted skin, thanks to the contraction of the elastic fibers and the slight edema created. However, for the final result, you will have to wait 3 months. This is the time needed for your fibroblasts to produce all these new collagen and reticulin fibers. This face lift allows you to redefine your curves and erase imperfections, such as crow’s feet or signs of sagging. It counteracts the effects of sagging skin and expression lines without surgery.

Normally, only one session is needed to treat an area, but in the case of severe sagging skin, a second session may be required. This second session is usually scheduled 4-6 weeks later.

To maintain the result, we recommend that the area be treated once a year.

How is the session performed?

The Ultraformer III method is performed by your aesthetic doctor and takes place in our aesthetic clinic located in Lausanne. The non-surgical facelift lasts between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the area to be treated. The goal is to work on the relaxed area by different depths.

For the face:
The depth of 1.5 mm is suitable for the dermis and the epidermis. We go to 3 mm to treat the skin fat and, essential points, to 4.5 mm to allow a retraction of the SMAS which is the musculo aponeurotic system of the face, an essential element to be treated to have a good medical lifting effect.

For the body:
We go down with handpieces deeper (6, 9 and 13 mm) in the more fatty areas, in order to have a good retraction of this subcutaneous tissue. A small effect is also guaranteed on the orange peel appearance.

Does it hurt?

During the passage of the deeper handpieces (>3mm) there is a tingling sensation and a slight discharge. For this reason you will receive, if you wish, a premedication 30min before. In case of hypersensitivity, the doctor performing the treatment will adjust the intensity of the shots.

What are the consequences of the treatment?

On the day of the non-surgical facelift, the treated area will present a slight redness, a slight edema and a tingling sensation, but there will be no bruising. You will be able to apply makeup as soon as you leave the clinic and resume your usual activities. These symptoms disappear within 24 hours. Unlike cosmetic surgery, treatment with Ultraformer III does not require any post-operative follow-up and therefore does not require social eviction.

Neurological lesions and post-treatment burns have been described. They are exceptional and are mostly due to an inappropriate gesture. It is therefore important to consult a qualified and certified physician before undergoing this treatment.

Are there any contraindications?

HIFU is contraindicated for pregnant and breastfeeding women, patients with pacemakers, and patients with skin lesions.

Dental implants and crowns are not a contraindication. When we treat the oval of the face, a wet compress is placed between the teeth and the lip to protect the gums and not to echo the metal dental material.
