Cruroplasty (Thigh lift)
After a weight loss or simply with time, the inner thighs can be the seat of an excess of skin (associated or not with an excess of fat). This excess is a source of discomfort, not only aesthetic, but sometimes functional (friction). Cruroplasty, also known as thigh lift, allows to reshape the inner part of the thighs and to restore their shape, while reducing the excess fat and skin located on the inside of the leg. This lift is an effective treatment, and the result is visible after a few months.
How is the procedure performed?
First of all, the excess to be resected is measured on the patient who is awake and in a standing position before the procedure.
Performed under general anesthesia, the thigh lift is an operation that lasts an average of 2 hours.
The procedure is performed in two stages:
- It begins with a liposuction of the fat on the thighs using fine cannulas. This will allow the removal of residual fat and prepare the operating plan for the lift.
- The next step will concern the excision of the excess skin, the incision is located in the fold of the groin, and most often also includes a vertical scar of varying length depending on the extent of the excess.
The thigh lift is performed by our team of professionals at our clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The procedure requires an overnight stay in the hospital.
When will the results be visible?
The final result of the thigh lift surgery can be seen after 3 months, but as soon as you leave the clinic you will have an idea of how your thighs will look.
It is after the first year that the scar takes its final appearance.
What are the after-effects?
This is not a very painful operation, a simple analgesic treatment can quickly relieve the pain. The most difficult thing will be to walk normally in the first few days following a thigh lift. Hematomas are present in the post-operative period, but disappear after a few weeks, as do edemas. It is recommended to wear an elastic support or a panty to help the skin retract properly.
The return to work can be done after a week, as for sport it will be necessary to wait 6 weeks.

What are the possible complications?
The main post-operative complications are
- Hematoma: related to bleeding in the postoperative period.
- Healing problems: the quality of the healing depends on the surgical stitching technique, but especially on the way each patient heals. We speak in particular of hypertrophic scars or keloids
- Dehiscence of the scar: due to the important tension exerted on the dermis, it is possible that small areas of the scar “let go”. The treatment is carried out by regular wound care, rarely it is necessary to perform surgery.
- Infection: In case of infection (fever, local inflammation, pain), a treatment based on antibiotics is given.
- Disturbances of skin sensitivity on the inner side of the thighs: linked to the inevitable section of small terminal cutaneous nerve branches during the operation. They are reversible over a period of 3 months to 1 year
