Breast pexy
Breast pexy is a way to reshape the breast. Over the years, most women see their breasts change in shape and size. Successive pregnancies, breastfeeding, and weight changes decrease the glandular volume of the breast. Breast pexy allows the breast to be reshaped.
How is the procedure performed?
Breast pexy consists of reshaping the breast by moving the areola upwards according to predetermined measurements and then removing the excess skin. Different scars are possible depending on the amount of skin to be removed. The method used leaves at least one peri-areolar scar, most often it requires a vertical or in addition with a horizontal in the submammary fold (inverted T scars). The breast pexy procedure requires hospitalization in Lausanne, Switzerland. The duration of the operation is 2h30.
The price of the breast pexy depends on the procedure, it starts at 3’000 CHF. Our team of surgeons will be happy to answer your questions and provide you with a more precise offer.
Can a pexy be combined with a breast augmentation?
In this case, the goal of the operation is twofold: to lift the breasts and to increase their volume. This procedure is very useful especially in case of after-effects after significant weight loss, or as already mentioned, post-breastfeeding. The pexy is not sufficient, there is a volume deficit. It is a technically complex procedure, which requires a good experience.

When will the results be visible?
The final results will be visible after 3 months, when the breast has returned to its final position, once the swelling and bruising have completely subsided. Healing will be complete after one year.
What are the after-effects?
The operation lasts 2h30 under general anaesthetic, it can be done on an outpatient basis. There is a sports bra to wear for 1 month. A one-week leave from work is sufficient.
The sutures are made with an absorbable thread, so there is no thread to remove.
What are the possible complications?
- Hemorrhage: It is prevented by careful hemostasis. Its appearance (painful tension of a large breast) must lead to a surgical revision. It is a complication that occurs immediately after surgery.
- Infection: Rare, it is prevented by prophylactic antibiotic therapy during the operation. However, if it occurs several days after the operation, an antibiotic treatment will be introduced. And in case of infection of the implant, the infection is serious and implies a surgical resumption to remove the prostheses the time that the infection is controlled
- Seroma: this is the most frequent complication. It is the presence of serous liquid. It appears directly after the operation and can lead to repeated punctures and rarely to a reoperation for drainage. It usually resolves spontaneously.
- Thrombo-embolic accidents: very rare in this type of operation. Prevented by early mobilization.
- Scar problems: dehiscence (disunion of scars), enlarged (hypertrophic) or pathological (keloids).
- Alterations in sensitivity: especially of the nipple, most often transient (six to eighteen months)
- Insufficient results: residual asymmetry, poor positioning of the implant
