Sculptra®
Based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra® is a biostimulatory injectable that restores facial volume and firmness by stimulating your own collagen production. Where fillers provide immediate correction, it favors a gradual and long-lasting improvement that respects your facial features and expressiveness. Indicated in cases of volume loss or mild skin laxity, it is performed at Maison Tóā in Lausanne following a personalized medical assessment.
- Indication: early sagging of the facial contour, loss of tone and elasticity.

Duration : 40 minutes
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a biostimulatory injectable based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that works within the dermis to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. It helps firm the skin, restore lost facial volume, and improve skin density in a gradual and natural way, without a frozen appearance. It acts as a long-term treatment, with results that build up over the course of several weeks.
Objective
Restore skin quality and structure by stimulating its natural regeneration, for a harmonious, subtle, and long-lasting result.
Principle
Sculptra® works gradually within the skin, allowing an even distribution throughout the tissues, promoting natural collagen production and improving skin density through the stimulation of fibroblasts.
Active ingredient
Sculptra® is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a biostimulatory active ingredient used in aesthetic medicine to support the progressive regeneration of the skin.
Differences compared to other injectable treatments
Sculptra® does not create an immediate restructuring or volumizing effect like Radiesse® or HarmonyCa™, two other biostimulators based on calcium hydroxyapatite. It works progressively to naturally stimulate collagen and provide long-lasting improvement in skin quality.
Indications and treated areas
Sculptra® is intended for skin experiencing a loss of firmness and structural support. This regenerative treatment gradually supports the skin, helping it regain a more toned and naturally revitalized appearance.
Main indications
Loss of facial volume, mild to moderate skin laxity.
Secondary indications
Sculptra® can also be used to improve the quality and density of lax skin on the neck, décolleté, arms, and legs. With multiple sessions, it can subtly enhance buttock volume.
Treated areas
Facial oval and temples.
Specific areas
The neck, décolleté, arms, and legs to improve skin firmness. The buttocks to enhance shape and achieve subtle volume.
Limitations
As results are gradual, Sculptra® is not suitable for those seeking immediate volume correction. It is part of a long-term approach and does not replace surgical procedures when these are indicated.
How does the session at Maison Tóā clinic in Lausanne take place?
1 Consultation

Each treatment begins with a personalized consultation at the Maison Tóā clinic in Lausanne. Our specialist physicians assess skin quality, expectations, and medical history in order to confirm the indication for Sculptra®. This step makes it possible to define a tailored protocol and explain how the session will take place.

Each Sculptra® session lasts approximately 40 minutes. The treatment is performed by a certified FMH specialist physician. The product, based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is precisely injected beneath the skin to stimulate collagen production and restore facial volume. The injections are performed using a cannula to improve comfort and reduce visible marks. This technique allows for an even and gradual distribution of the product within the tissues.
Read more3 Follow-up

After a Sculptra® session, mild swelling may temporarily appear in the treated areas for about 12 hours. A small bruise may also occur at the injection site and gradually fade over a few days. To optimize results, it is recommended to avoid intense physical activity as well as exposure to high heat (sauna, steam room, hot baths) for 24 hours. After the treatment, massage of the injected areas following the “5-5-5” protocol (5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days) is advised to promote even distribution of the product.

Hyaluronic acid provides immediate volume correction, whereas Sculptra® acts as a biostimulator: it stimulates your body’s own collagen production for a gradual and long-lasting improvement.
Is the treatment suitable for everyone?
Sculptra® is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. The indication is confirmed during a prior medical consultation.
Which areas can be treated with Sculptra®?
It is primarily indicated for the face (cheeks, temples, facial contour, pre-auricular area), but it can also improve skin firmness on the neck, décolleté, buttocks, or arms.
When do you see results from Sculptra®?
The first effects appear around 6 weeks after the session, then gradually increase over the months as new collagen is formed.
What can you expect after a session?
Mild swelling or bruising may occur but disappears within a few days. Intense physical activity and sun exposure should be avoided for 48 hours.
Is the treatment painful?
Sculptra® is injected using a micro-cannula, which makes the treatment minimally painful. A numbing cream may be applied beforehand.
How many sessions are needed?
Generally, one to three sessions are recommended depending on your skin type and the amount of collagen to be restored.
Can Sculptra® be combined with other treatments?
Yes, as part of a comprehensive approach: Skinboosters, PRP, or Botox® depending on your priorities. At Maison Tóā, the treatment plan is customized during the consultation.
