How does the treatment work?

The Miradry treatment is performed at our clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland. We are one of the first clinics in French-speaking Switzerland to use this new technology to reduce sweating.

The sweat glands are sensitive to heat. It is through this simple principle that the Miradry underarm sweat treatment is possible: focused microwaves will heat the surface of the dermis (between two and five millimeters deep) to a temperature of about 60 degrees for a short time, allowing the destruction of the sweat glands without affecting the surrounding structures.

This treatment also makes it possible to eliminate part of the hair follicles and therefore the hair in the armpits. To date, it is one of the most effective methods to reduce excessive underarm perspiration.

For whom is the treatment indicated?

Miradry is the solution to the discomfort caused by underarm sweat.

This treatment is for all men and women who want to get rid of the discomfort of excessive sweating, bad odor under the arms or who are looking for an effective and long-lasting alternative to the application of deodorants.

Which part of the body can be treated?

Currently only the underarms can be treated with this technology, but research is currently underway to extend it to other parts of the body.

In the meantime, Maison Tóā offers an alternative solution for those other areas of hypersudation: botulinum toxin injections.

What results can we expect after a session?

The results are immediate and visible in the long term. According to several scientific studies

• 82% reduction in perspiration
• 90% reduction in odor

How does the session work?

The session is divided into 3 steps:

• Step 1: Anesthesia
  After applying an anesthetic cream to numb the skin surface, the doctors will numb the dermis by injecting a large quantity of a local anesthetic solution diluted with saline.
• Step 2: The design
  Each armpit is unique. Miradry® can be adapted to any size of armpit using different layers. To facilitate the application of this layer on the skin, it is important that the armpits are shaved 3 to 4 days before the treatment. (Ideally, the regrowth should be 1 millimeter).
• Step 3: The treatment
  Once the armpit is anesthetized and the treatment plan is placed on the skin, your doctor will apply a thin layer of ultrasound gel. The handpiece will then be put in contact with your skin and will allow, by a suction cup system, to slightly suck the area to be treated in order to deliver the focused microwaves that will destroy the sweat glands immediately. A skin cooling system allows a safe treatment.

The Miradry treatment is effective for people who suffer from excessive underarm sweating, but also to reduce bad odor under the arms.

Does it hurt?

The treatment is done under local anesthesia, so it is painless. Upon awakening and during the first 72 hours, a feeling of discomfort, even a slight pain may be felt. This is due to the inflammation of the tissues caused by the destruction of the glands.

What are the consequences of the treatment?

The armpits will be slightly swollen for a week and there will be some small bruises due to the suction. At the end of the treatment, and in the evening, you will apply a cold pack that we provide. Anti-inflammatory medication will be prescribed to reduce swelling and pain. Locally you will be able to wash as usual and it is advised to apply a moisturizing cream on the skin for one week. Sports activities and heavy work should be avoided during the first week.

Here are some tips to help you recover:

• Apply ice to the treated area immediately. Continue to apply ice for a few days to reduce swelling.
• Take the anti-inflammatory medication prescribed by your doctor. Your underarms may remain tender for up to four weeks after the procedure while they heal.
• Keep your underarms clean while they recover from the procedure. Wash them with liquid soap.
• Avoid shaving until the sensitivity has returned to normal to avoid injury.
• Wear a loose-fitting top for a few days after the procedure for better comfort.
