PRP for skin quality
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection, commonly known as the “Vampire Lift,” proves to be a revolutionary medical technique where the patient benefits from the injection of their own blood serum, specifically enriched with a high concentration of platelets. This procedure combines the use of the body’s natural resources with technological advancements to offer a highly effective and innovative therapeutic approach in the field of aesthetic medicine.

What is PRP?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. A brief definition is necessary to understand the principle of this treatment, which consists of blood cells from your own blood, without the addition of any chemicals. The liquid part of blood, plasma serves as a vehicle for the red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets it contains, transporting them throughout the body via the venous system, arteries, and capillaries. What are platelets and what are they for? Also called thrombocytes, they are small cells produced by the bone marrow that allow the blood to clot, that is, to change from a liquid to a solid state in order to prevent excessive bleeding in case of injury. In addition to playing a key role in the healing process, platelets provide an initial immune response to the intrusion of a virus, allergen, or bacteria into the blood vessels. As its name suggests, PRP is a plasma (blood liquid) that includes a higher than average platelet count (two to five times higher than normal levels). This serum is obtained by centrifugation: a true concentrate of platelets, it carries numerous growth factors, including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), which stimulates the division of fibroblasts, the main cells of connective tissue involved in skin healing, as well as in other organs and muscles.
The PRP injection-infiltration treatment is suitable for patients wishing to correct skin imperfections, including scars or persistent redness, those suffering from alopecia (hair loss), and for sports professionals seeking a rapid and effective therapeutic solution for treating muscle and/or joint injuries (tendonitis, arthritis, lesions, knee pain, etc.) by accelerating cellular repair.
How does PRP injection work on the face?
As mentioned, blood consists of three types of cells: white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. They all bathe in a liquid, plasma, which transports them throughout the body. PRP consists solely of plasma and platelets, an exclusive mixture rid of white and red blood cells after passing through a centrifuge from a blood unit taken from the patient. This is called an “autologous” method, meaning that the donor is also the recipient. PRP is thus an enriched plasma containing more platelets than usual.
The high level of proteins and other growth factors resulting from this decantation process make the obtained blood serum an effective remedy for effectively combating the early signs of facial skin aging.
The growth factors released by platelets stimulate local microcirculation and collagen production. In the case of facial treatment by micro-injections of platelet extracts, a real glow is observed. The skin appears rejuvenated, smoother, firmer, and brighter.
Injected into the area of the under-eye, PRP is a true youth elixir. Few non-invasive techniques allow rejuvenating this delicate area. Physiologically, the eyelid relaxes and wrinkles faster than the rest of the face. PRP helps to tighten the eyelid, smooth out fine lines, and lighten the very common pigmentation component. It is also important to note that PRP will not act on a hollow and deep under-eye. In this case, it is advisable to consider, as an alternative or in combination, a deep injection of hyaluronic acid.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is administered by injection or using a medical microneedling system, such as the Dermapen as in the vampire lift treatment.
The PRP injection treatment performed by a physician at Maison Tóā primarily aims to regenerate the skin and prevent skin aging.
Who is PRP indicated for on the face?
- People concerned about preventing skin aging.
- People wishing to treat skin imperfections (acne scars, traumatic scars, redness, dry skin).
- People with fine lines resulting from superficial dermal dehydration.
- People suffering from sagging skin around the under-eye area or dark pigmentation.
What other parts of the body can be treated with PRP injections?
PRP injections can be done on the face, scalp, body, and even on the genital areas to provide them with more firmness and tone (labia majora).
The PRP treatment, tissue and hormone regenerator, and carrier of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and proteins, is a therapeutic solution to stop hair loss and initiate hair regrowth: platelet-rich plasma is administered to the patient by a local injection into the scalp. Thanks to the growth factors contained in PRP, hair follicle cells are reactivated, and blood flow is stimulated in the area being treated.
The PRP injection takes place in Lausanne, in our specialized clinic.
What results can be expected after a PRP session?
Injected into the dermis, it directly gives radiant and toned skin after the first session. After 4 weeks, the skin becomes softer, smoother, and imperfections are reduced.
On a capillary level, after the first session, you may notice less fragile and easier to style hair. It takes 9-12 weeks to see hair regrowth.
For optimal results, the physician at Maison Tóā recommends undergoing 3 sessions of injections at 4-week intervals. Then, for maintenance, one session every 6 to 12 months depending on the area and indication.
How does the PRP face session proceed?
Before the procedure, aspirin should be avoided for 24 hours prior to the session. Blood is drawn from the arm and then centrifuged to isolate the platelets from red and white blood cells. With a fine needle, PRP is then injected into the dermis in the area to be treated.
PRP injection is carried out in our Lausanne clinic, lasts approximately 30 minutes, and the price of a session is 590.- CHF.
Does it hurt?
Mesotherapy micro needles of 32G are used, making the treatment almost painless. A numbing cream can be applied to the areas to be treated for better comfort.
What are the follow-ups after PRP treatment?
PRP is prepared from the patient’s own blood. It is therefore an autologous blood product, 100% biocompatible, with no signs of inflammation at the injection site, and no risk of rejection or allergy. It is obtained through a simple blood draw. There is no social exclusion except on the day of treatment (redness like a sunburn).
Are there any contraindications to platelet-rich plasma injections?
PRP is contraindicated in people with infected skin lesions to avoid the risk of infection spread. It is one of the few treatments compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding.
