Coolsculpting – Non-Surgical Fat Reduction
Cryolipolysis by Coolsculpting is a non-invasive method of cold fat cell removal performed at Maison Tóā Clinic based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
How does Cryolipolysis work?
It has been scientifically confirmed that fat cells are not resistant to very low temperatures. Your body’s fat cells (adipocytes) die naturally when exposed to extreme cold.
This treatment is an alternative to liposuction or cruroplasty to treat fat accumulation in several localized areas of the body: inner thighs, hips, abdominal area, buttocks. It allows a remodeling of the silhouette.
This technique of aesthetic medicine does not require any surgical intervention, it is practiced without damaging the skin which thus keeps its elasticity, the muscles or the neighbouring nerves. The Coolsculpting technology has been certified and has obtained the CE mark, as well as the validation of the FDA in the United States.
For whom is the treatment indicated?
Cryolipolysis by Coolsculpting is for anyone who has areas of excess fat that are resistant to physical activity or diet, and who does not wish to undergo liposuction. It allows for the reduction of unsightly bulges, the elimination of excess fat and body remodeling. Combined with regular physical activity, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle, Coolscultping is highly effective in getting rid of excess fatty tissue.
What part of the body can be treated?
The treatment can be performed on many parts of the body:
- Abdomen
- Love handles
- Buttocks
- Legs
- Saddlebags
- Knees
- Thighs
- Under-buttocks
- Arms
- Back folds
- Double chin
What results can be expected after a session?
After a Coolsculpting session, the fat cells are gradually destroyed and eliminated by the lymphatic system and the kidneys.
A single session of Coolsculpting can eliminate up to 30% of fat in the treated area. The cooling of fat cells offers the possibility of sculpting, firming and toning the different areas of the body for visible results from the first session, without surgical intervention.
After two months, localized fat will be less visible and the body will continue to shed fatty tissue for up to 6 months after the treatment.
It is recommended to massage the treated areas and to drink plenty of water in the weeks following the treatment.
The fat cells eliminated during the treatment do not reproduce. The treatment is therefore definitive and the result is natural. Depending on the objectives, an additional treatment can be performed within a minimum of 4 weeks.
How does the session go?
After having discussed what localised fat you wish to eliminate and was goals you desire to reach with the practitioner, a gel-impregnated tissue is placed on the skin to protect the treated area for your first Coolsculpting session .
The excess fat is sucked up by the applicator, then cooled to a temperature of around -8°C.
The Coolsculpting session lasts between 35 minutes and 2 hours depending on the area to be treated. The session takes place in our specialized center in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Does it hurt?
Cryolipolysis treatment does not require general or local anesthesia or hospitalization. It is much less invasive than liposuction of the thighs or liposuction of the abdomen while remaining effective in the treatment of cellulite. Coolsculpting is a painless technique, sometimes slightly uncomfortable during the first few minutes of the application of the applicator.
Directly after the treatment, a light sensation on the treated area can be felt for a few minutes.
What are the consequences of the treatment?
Bruising and swelling may appear on the treated fatty areas. These disappear at the latest one week after the treatment. However, Coolsculpting does not require social eviction. Thus, you can resume your professional activities as soon as the session is over.
Are there any contra-indications?

- significant skin laxity (in this case, surgery is recommended)
